Setting transitions by using In and Out animations presets

Working with time line presets is a fast and easy way to work with items, allowing to easily assign IN and OUT transitions for text, images and rectangles

As you can see, the time line preset has four stages:

- Delay (represented by the gray segment). The item is not displayed during this stage

- In (represented by the white segment). During the IN stage, the item makes his “entrance”

- Hold (represented by the green segment if the duration is infinite or yellow if the duration is finite). If you need that item to be hold on the screen for an indefinitely period of time you need to check the "Infinite" checkbox. During the HOLD stage, the item will stay still on the screen

- Out (represented by the orange segment). During the OUT stage, the item makes his exit

All stages has in common the duration property which tells how long the respective stage should perform

For IN and OUT stages we can choose how the item enters or leaves the scene (later we will describe the transitions)

If the Delay, In and Out stages doesn't exist, the item will stay on the screen as much as the hold stage is set (in this case 200 frames)

The time line will became green only if the Infinite option is checked, in that case the item will stay on the screen indefinitely

Under In-stage and Out-stage thee is a button called Transition

By pushing the transition button we can open the dialog that allows us to set the behavior for IN and OUT stage

There are three types of transitions:
- Push
- Fade
- Reveal

The push transition is acting over position by setting the item to enter into the screen from left/right or upper/bottom

The same behavior it can be set for the Out stage, and the Item will get out from the screen corresponding to the push settings

You can see in the next image how to set the item to enter in the screen space in 20 frames from the left side

In order to do this you need to simply set the time in the box corresponding to the IN stage, and open the transition dialog and set the transition type as "Push Right"

If we choose "Push Down" for the OUT stage than the item will leave the screen by sliding down from HOLD position to the bottom of the screen in the time that was set for the OUT stage

The "Fade" transition is acting on transparency (opacity)

There is a "Fade In" transition for the IN stage and a "Fade Out" transition for the OUT stage that are used to make the item appear / disappear

For the In stage the opacity of the element will increase from 0% to 100%

For the Out stage the opacity of the element will decrease from 100% to 0%

The "Reveal" and "Wipe" transitions will act over the drawing area revealing the item during the IN stage and wipe out the item during the OUT stage

As you can see, setting of the "Reveal" transition is done by simply selecting the desired type from the list

Besides the type of transition you can choose the weight of a transition

The weight of a transition tells how much from its behavior should be applied at its maximum moment (for IN stage, the maximum moment is the start time of the stage, while for OUT stage, the maximum moment is at the end time of the stage)

For example, if we choose 50% for the Fade In transition in the IN stage, the item will not be fully transparent at the starting of the IN stage

The same concept applies for the transition by position, like Push Left for example.

You can see that at the start time of the IN stage, the item is not outside the screen but at 50% from the HOLD position to the virtual maximum moment corresponding to the IN position
